I'm thrilled to launch a country-specific series of real estate posts designed to guide you through the financial considerations of real estate investments—from start to finish. This series aims to empower anyone, anywhere, to explore international real estate opportunities and evaluate the pros and cons of investing in high-potential markets.
This series is for you if:
- You live anywhere around the world, already have cash savings or saving towards your first/next real estate investment.
- You are exploring buying a home—locally or abroad—whether for living or investment purposes.
- You need in-depth, country-specific insights to guide your decisions.
- You are comparing investment opportunities across countries, evaluating returns, and weighing trade-offs.
Here are examples of topics I will cover, country-by-country, with calculations & examples drawn from real-life and/or personal experiences:
- Buy or Rent a home (locally or abroad)
- Financing Decisions (i.e. interest-based loan strategies, refinancing)
- Income-Generating Strategies (i.e. loan conversions, debt-leverage)
- Property Enhancements (i.e. flipping, sustainability improvements)
- Country-specific regulations (i.e. taxes, regulatory environment)
🇳🇱 I will start with the Dutch market, and aim to replicate it globally from there.
I will start with the Dutch market — first, evidently because this is where I live in at the moment, and second, because I am building a tool that will automate the full end-to-end journey, one country at a time.
Why local then global? Simply a matter of focus and getting things right. I expect 80% of real estate journey aspects to be generally similar across countries, while the other 20% require customisation to local regulations, tax systems, and local real estate market dynamics. My goal is to get the basics and foundations right in one country, before scaling it out globally, while working on building country-specific partnerships as I build out the product foundation.
Stay tuned! 👋🏽
